The Taiwanese singer surprised her colleagues when she turned up for their year-end banquet with her band mates


Taiwanese starlet Selina Jen was finally discharged last Wednesday, after an on-set accident which left her severely burnt.

Her road to recovery might be long and arduous, but the girl seemed cheery at a "Reunion, finally" party held at her house. Apart from the Jen family, band mate Hebe Tien's parents, Ella Chen and pro golfer Yani Tseng all turned up for the party.

The party was also to celebrate Yani's birthday. The group celebrated her birthday and Selina's 'rebirth' with a steamboat, fun and games. Selina was even seen swaying along with the music.

Yesterday (Jan 24), Selina appeared at her management company's year-end banquet at around eight at night, together with band mates Hebe and Ella. She surprised her colleagues, who were not expecting her.

Selina said she was there to thank them personally.

"[I] have to thank the care colleagues had given me since my accident. You guys took turns to look after me when I was in the hospital. I'm very touched. Thank you, everyone," Selina said.

Last year, S.H.E donated a six-figure amount to their colleagues at the year-end banquet.

However, the banquet was changed into a tea party this year due to Selina's accident. The company had donated the money, which was supposed to be used on the banquet, to Sunshine Social Welfare Organization, as they had provided much help to Selina after her accident.

Taiwanese starlet Selina Jen's last entry on microblogging site Weibo was one day before she was severely burnt in an accident on the set of drama I Have a Date with Spring. That day, the girl shared her filming experiences.

Selina was finally discharged from the hospital 89 days after her accident. Four days later, she took to her Weibo for the first time since.

"All the best to Ham Yu, who is also doing therapy," Selina posted, who encouraged her co-star, Chinese actor Ham Yu, who was also injured in the same accident.

Selina also shared diary entries of her therapy sessions. The messy handwriting depicted the hardships she faced during her recovery. The notes clearly recorded every step of her recovery process, such as kneeling, sitting and climbing the stairs.

Selina had to practise these simple actions daily, from 11am to 5pm. She also had to do it every time she was free, to prevent her muscles and skin from contraction.

Luckily, the singer was not alone during her recovery. Band mate Ella Chen showed her support by bringing Selina pasta.

Selina's fans also launched a spontaneous "Wishing Selina all the best" event in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. The fans held placards to wish for Selina's fast recovery and petition for the people in-charge to take responsibility.

For a period of two days, Taiwanese legislator Chiu Yi also left messages on his Weibo, chiding I Have a Date with Spring director Chen Ming Zhang and Hunan TV.

Chiu expressed that he is currently finding out about the situation from the governor of Hunan and his secretary. He hoped that Selina's accident would serve as a lesson, and that Taiwanese artistes would have more security while filming in China.

The Taiwanese starlet might resume work as early as June

Selina Jen once worried she would not be able to perform on stage again as she looks "different from before".

But it looks like the Taiwanese singer can cast those doubts aside, as endorsements are pouring in. The popstar, who was severely burnt in an on-set accident, was discharged from hospital on Jan 19, after spending 89 days there.

Many companies had reportedly contacted Selina's management company HIM International, expressing their wish to have Selina endorse their products. They included fruit juices, clothes, skincare products and a slimming programme.

Selina has reportedly received five invitations to endorse products. Selina's doctor also advised her not to coop herself at home, saying that a moderate amount of work would be helpful to her mental and physical health.

The singer is expected to make her comeback with either a fruit juice or a slimming programme commercial in June, while other endorsements would be subjected to the state of her physical health.

"I'm so thankful! However, my health is in no condition [for work] now. Is it all right to let the clients wait?" an overjoyed Selina said.

HIM International firmly stated that everything would depend on Selina's will and health. The company is looking into plans of a new album and hosting gigs for the singer, apart from endorsements.

"The earliest we can hear Selina sing again is next year. However, there would be a secret project before that. Selina will be recording a wedding single during her wedding. She would personally bring the good news to people with her sweet voice," Selina's friend revealed.
