TAIPEI: Months after a filming accident left S.H.E's Selina Jen with severe burns on large parts of her body, Jen's father revealed on his micro-blog last week that she could now do little exercises without help from her physiotherapist, reported Taiwan media.
The elder Jen gushed about how his daughter could now stretch her feet to touch the end of the bed with her toes and how she had called it "ballet in a sitting position".
"In the past, her physiotherapist had to use both hands to bend Selina's knees and stretch her feet," wrote Jen's father, who was glad that Jen could perform the exercise, which is designed to strengthen her leg muscles, on her own.
He added that the 29-year-old singer-actress is recovering steadily after skin graft operations were done on her legs, which were badly burned in an explosion on the set of "I Have A Date With Spring".
While Jen's situation has greatly improved, her record label HiM International Music said Thursday that it would be some time before the singer is able to return to the stage and dismissed rumours that she will make an appearance at a New Year's concert this year.
"That is impossible. She (Selina Jen) is still recovering. Although doctors have not given us an exact time [when Jen will be able to perform again], it is impossible in the near future," said a spokesperson from HiM. S.H.E's Ella Chen also told reporters during an appearance for an endorsement deal on Saturday that Jen could take at least a year to recover.
HiM has also released a statement to dispel rumours that Hunan Television - the broadcaster which had invited Jen to participate in "I Have A Date With Spring" – had flatly refused to pay the 30 million-yuan (S$6 million) compensation fee HiM allegedly asked for.
According to the statement, cordial discussions are currently underway to settle the matter of compensation and warned that HiM will take legal action against parties who spread such rumours.
