[Selina] Compilation of News about Selina's Condition

Selina Jen takes her first steps

After lying on the bed for 62 days, Taiwanese pop starlet Selina Jen finally took her first steps.

With the help of her band mates Ella Chen and Hebe Tien, Selina, who wore a pair of pressurised stockings, walked round her hospital ward. It was a touching moment for the Jen family.

Selina's mother broke into tears while her younger sister Kristen compared Selina's steps to astronaut Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon in 1969.

"Selina's tiny first steps are the steps towards a happier future," said Kristen.

Hebe also wrote on her Weibo, saying that she was "lucky to have witnessed this huge improvement. It's the best Christmas present; I'm really touched. Merry Christmas, wifey! I love you."

HIM International and Hunan TV reportedly set up a "compensation team" and talks are currently underway. However, as there are various complications when it comes to the compensation and pinpointing responsibility, results from the discussion cannot be made public yet.

"There are good intentions and sincerity from both parties. We do not wish to involve the law and hope that there would be a positive settlement," said HIM International.

On the other hand, Hunan TV has not given any explanations to date, except for the release of an investigative report on the incident. Furthermore, director Chen Ming Zhang has yet to send his apologies to Selina and her family even though he had returned to Taiwan.

Matilda Tao reveals Selina Jen’s serious face injuries

Is that really her?

That was the title for One Million Star host Matilda Tao's latest blog entry.

Matilda Tao and husband Li Li Ren visited Selina Jen at the hospital on the night of Christmas Eve. She later gave a detailed description of Selina's injuries on her website Women that night. The emcee revealed that Selina had serious face injuries and added that the singer's skin was still swelling and bleeding.

"I've met her. The girl sitting on the bed with a buzz cut, is that really her? Didn't the media report that her face wasn't burnt? What about the patches of red and yellow (on her face) or that charred black turning brown?" wrote Matilda.

According to the host's blog, Selina's arms and legs were dressed in flesh-coloured tights. There were visible blood stains on her tights and stitches on her scalp could be seen by the naked eye.

Matilda said, "On the way home, my husband asked me if I saw the blood-stained tights. I've obviously seen it. I even saw the few stitches on her scalp. She (Selina Jen) said they took two pieces of skin from her scalp and used it on her feet.

"Initially, she was running a fever daily. The pain was then curbed with morphine, causing her to be unconscious. Her parents stood by her every night. She couldn't remember what she said. She told us a lot in a relaxed manner; was she trying to comfort us?"

After her blog entry went 'live', there was strong feedback from netizens. Some felt that Matilda had depicted Selina's injuries too clearly and felt it was rude to her and her family. The host explained that her entry was "already very subtle and I received permission from Selina's family (to post the entry)."

Selina Jen cries looking at wedding dresses

It must be painful for Taiwanese pop star Selina Jen to be reminded of her yet-to-come wedding.

For the last two months, S.H.E member Selina Jen had been receiving treatment at Chang Gung Hospital in Taipei since an on-site accident left her severely burnt. Her road to recovery was long and arduous.

Selina's wedding to fiancé Richard Chang in April next year also had to be postponed indefinitely. A few days ago, while watching a talk show that was coincidentally discussing wedding dresses, the singer hugged her mother and broke into tears.

Father Jen revealed on microblogging site Weibo yesterday that Selina is able to go to the toilet on her own now. It was a major improvement from her tiny first steps.

"Today she (Selina Jen) practised her walk -- from tiny steps to bigger ones. Selina was so excited. While watching Matilda Tao's talk show discussing wedding dresses, Selina remembered the day she took her wedding photos. She then hugged her mother and cried," wrote Father Jen.

Fiancé Richard quickly called Selina when he knew she had cried.

"Think about the skin on your body, they're yours. It's just a matter of which came first. You need to give your new skin some time to have it grown back. Face your therapy with strength and optimism," he said.
