1. “2009.01.10 Let S.H.E sings till they are pregnant”
I admit as regarding to Hebe, I did not like her in the beginning. She was so cold, so hard to be close with. But as we meet more, she started to open up. There are quite a few artistes who are like this, e.g. Yang Nai Wen, I thought she’s proud. But I have realized that both of them are just fearful of people that they do not know well. I find that Hebe is a girl who thinks and has her own opinions, though somebody warned me that Hebe is “deep”. But I feel that the more a person stays in the entertainment circle, the more they will learn to protect themselves. It’s instinctive. In addition, I’m a reporter, she’s an artiste, so it’s natural that we have gaps between us. Overall, I still like this girl.
2. “2009.08.25 My Spa with S.H.E”
(He hates books by artistes as he feels that they are insincere. But he picked up S.H.E’s book to read and described his feelings of reading the book) Hebe’s part that she wrote by herself left the deepest impression in me. My previous article about S.H.E (as above) has gotten the greatest response from Hebe’s fans. A lot of fans wrote on my blog that Hebe’s cute and she just require time for people to understand her. I was quite surprised and slightly mystified. How come she has so many fans? Now my puzzlement is solved by this book, because she is really a person who thinks. Let’s say she talked about travel. A lot of people would describe the place and go on about where we buy cheap things and what flings they had there, including me. But Hebe’s travelogue included her analysis. In her travelogue about Beijing, she said: “Beijing has changed very fast. Every few months I will go there, and there will be a new skyscraper standing confidently in the middle of the city. I love the feeling of the fusion of ancient and modern architectures…” And she talked about Bali, “it isn’t just a backpack trip, it’s a trip which I find myself and belong…” And she talk about her trip with World Vision to Jakarta (It’s my pleasure that I got to tag along), “I feel that I have a mission, I need to keep on promoting happiness to every corner of the Earth.” What left the deepest impact in me was the part regarding family, named “lotus soup”. Her mother refused to let her to do a part-time in a lotus soup shop, but encouraged her to participate in the singing competition, which started the magical journey of her life. That time Hebe left home to form a group with 2 other girls, until today. Now when she bought a place in TaiPei, then she realized that her leaving of home was for ever. She has to go on from here. The interacting feelings of a close knit of a family and unforeseeable circumstances struck a loud note in me. Of course, being a reporter, I would want to dig out any juicy gossips about S.H.E’s love life.

As regard to Hebe, being a smart person, she wouldn’t tell you whether those rumors with the various artistes, backstage crews, males and females are real or not. She just shared her views regarding love and explicitly said that she won’t tell and she can’t tell. To me, this 7-grade (in Taiwan, it means people born in the 80s) girl, the youngest in S.H.E, has became increasingly interesting. Recounting that day of the “Spa of Love” book conference with fans and reporters, Hebe said that the questions were too conservative, while on the other side, Selina said that we can’t ask about the “1st night” (xup3i1in9: I believe all of you know what it means) and as such. I blurted out, how about “the previous night”? Hebe burst out laughing, “Hahaha, you are so evil, you really got a way…”
3. “Let’s listen to Hebe sing”
I am not a very artistic listener. Cheer Chen and Crowd Lu are very popular recently, but I would rather dance with Jolin Tsai and Elva Hsiao, or cry to A*Mei’s and Stefanie Sun’s love songs. The only artistic singer whom I love is Zhang Xuan, and now there’s one more, Hebe Tien. During September 2010, Hebe released her first solo 《To Hebe》 and won raves for it. Those who are unfamiliar with her would find out that she is not just a pretty face, but she has very good live singing skills. Fans who understood her, knew that she’s introverted, full of ideas, and is a bit alienated from the crowd, hence she sang 《isolated island》, “I think that this distance is just nice. We would not disturb each other with a sea between us”. Her cool personality still evident in her playfully singing of 《Mary the ant》” It seems that sometimes we really don’t need to cross that road. No matter how beautiful the scenery is, it’ll still be gone one day.” But she’s also full of love, hence she sang all types of 《Love》, the love between you, me, him and her. After one year, her love has risen to a different level, and so she brought us《My Love》. She said that 《To Hebe》was a self-introduction, and the 2nd album is more representative of her. Although only a year has passed between the releases of the 2 albums, she has experienced a lot during this short period. This summer’s afternoon, she introduced 5 new songs to the guests at the event. The host used “summer, refreshing, cool, and organic” to describe 《My Love》. Sure enough, the 1st song is very carefree and soothing. It feels as though the summer breeze has caressed your cheek. From the lyrics “Must I say something to prove that I’m alive and kicking”, it is not difficult to guess that the lyricist is Hebe Tien. As the album is not yet released, the music company kept the song names confidential. Thus we only got to see the lyrics on the screen when the songs are played, but I managed to jot down some lyrics that left a mark on me. There’s one song by Zhang Xuan, although she is not the lyricist, but her writing style is still apparent in the lyrics: “You are the playboy that we all love/ I have to share you with other women/ please give me a better rival in love/ at least let me feel the joy of competition/ at least let me have the perfect jealousy” The finale is the song by Qing Feng, for Selina. “The most heartbreaking thing is that there’s no words for pain / I hope that my song will reach your heart/ and the sun will shone on all of your beauty” Have you realized that Qing feng secretly put selina (sai ni na) in the song? At this moment, someone asked, “have selina heard it?” Hebe replied, “No, she doesn’t know about this song.” I don’t need to waste my words to describe the strong friendship between S.H.E. Hebe, whom always said that she’s a very strong person, recalled that she cried for the very 1st time during recording of this song. She was so affected that she cannot continue singing. She said that coincidentally Selina was doing her physiotherapy in the company on that day, so she pretended that nothing had happened and went to accompany Selina after stopping the recording abruptly. This reminded me of what ah diong once said. He said that when selina was in the hospital, as long as Hebe was in Taiwan, she would go and accompany her. She went so often that she could be awarded the perfect attendance medal! She is like this. She doesn’t have much reaction about everything, it is as though she doesn’t care, but she’s full of love, lots of it. We once went for a dinner many months ago. She brought me to a very special restaurant, a small shop that is rather hidden. The appearance is not appealing, such that if you do not look carefully, you might not even find the entrance. The food in the restaurant is also very bland. But the conversation that night was very memorable.Listen to Hebe sing. She saw me on yesterday’s event. Even though we have not met for a very long time, she knew something had happened to me, and so she held my hand and asked, “Are you okay?” Her warmth and concern for me was thoroughly felt through this simple gesture. The funny image of her falling down during a live telecast of a news is still deeply ingrained in my memory, but she has now gradually entered the phase of a mature young woman. But what is the same about her is that she is full of love for people, although she may seems distant at times. If your heart is full of love too, let us listen to Hebe sing.
